Order Source Maintenance

An Order Source is an optional way of tracking the way in which a customer contacts your company to place a sales order. Typically, a company that wants to use this feature sets up various sources such as: phone, fax, email, EDI, etc..

An order source can also be optionally set up with a bottom line discount. This can be used to create incentive for customers to contact your company through less time-intensive means. One example would be a source of "Phone" with no discount, another source of "email" with 2% discount, and yet another source of "EDI" with a 5% discount.

There is a field in customer maintenance that can be used to specify the default order source for that customer. The user also has the ability to override the default within the sales order.
