Creating and Setting Up a New User

Steps

  1. Begin by creating a user account on your network and making all domain, security, and group assignments.
  2. Access the Acclamare Command Center.
  3. Access User Maintenance.
    1. Create a new row in the grid by either using the New button, or typing into the empty row at the bottom of the grid. Please see the User Maintenance article for information about the specific setting available in this screen.
    2. Assign the appropriate security settings.
    3. Optionally, assign screen customization settings based on the customizations of another user.
    4. Click the Save button.
  4. The user is now ready to access the Acclamare desktop client. If they will be using a workstation that already has Acclamare installed, they are ready to log in. If they will be using a new workstation, follow these instructions:
    1. Create a new folder for Acclamare.
    2. Locate a copy of AcclamareLauncher.exe. If you do not have a copy, contact your system administrator or Acclamare support partner to obtain a copy. Place this file in the folder you created in step 1.
    3. If desired, create a shortcut for this executable and place it on the user's desktop.
    4. Run the executable and provide values for all fields then click Connect.
    5. The user now has access to the Acclamare desktop client.

Additional Information

Acclamare does not require administrative privileges.  However, it does require full read and write access to its own local client folder as various things are written back to that folder during use.

Access to a shared network drive is also required. This is where the local Acclamare client will look for new versions of system files.  The user needs security permissions to read that shared folder, but does not need permission to write to it. There is no harm in having read and write privileges, but write access is not necessary.

If multiple users are sharing a machine, such as  terminal server, we recommend each user have its own local client folder for storing its own unique user customizations.  Otherwise, each session will very likely overwrite the other sessions with its own settings.

Lastly, the Acclamare Launcher is the application that the user runs.  The Acclamare Client application is NOT directly fired by any user.  The Acclamare Launcher will handle the running of the Acclamare Client.
