Workflow Maintenance

Purpose

This screen is used to create and maintain workflows. The grid in the center of the screen is used to create new workflows or edit existing ones.

New workflows are created by clicking the New button in the main menu. At the header level, a workflow is simply defined by a name and brief description. Once those are set, use the New Dynamic Task and New Static Task buttons to create the mix of tasks that are relevant to the workflow.

Existing workflows can be edited by simply selecting the desired header field and typing in your new value. To edit a detail of the workflow, click the “+” next to the workflow to expand its details then double-click the detail to bring up the relevant editing screen.

What does this field do?

New/Edit Dynamic Task

Importance

This field has three possible values: High, Normal, Low. When tasks are shown to the user in the Workflow area on the main screen, tasks will be organized according to their importance with High being listed first and Low being listed last.

Threshold

Dynamic tasks only occur in the Workflow area once certain conditions are met. For example, the “Replenish Out of Stock Items” task will only be displayed when the system encounters stocked items that are currently on backorder. This field is used to determine how many items are on backorder before the task is displayed. If Threshold is set to 1, then every time one or more items are backordered, the task will appear. If Threshold is set to 10, then at least 10 items must be out of stock before the task appears.
